Home Permits Increase in Most Counties
CINCINNATI – Single-family home permits in the Greater Cincinnati region were up in Butler, Clermont and Warren counties from January through May of this year, compared to the same period in 2011, reports the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati (HBA). Only Hamilton County experienced a decline.
A total of 631 single-family permits were issued in Clermont, Butler, Hamilton and Warren counties during the first five months of 2012, compared to 633 during the same timeframe last year.
Butler County led with 164 permits (a 16.3% increase), followed by Clermont with 142 (a 16.2% increase) and Warren with 197 (a 2.1% increase). Hamilton County permits dropped 33.1% over the same period.
Condo and apartment permits jumped by 160 units in Clermont County, from 14 in 2011 to 174 in 2012. Permits for attached units in the other three Greater Cincinnati counties experienced a decline.
“It appears that consumer confidence is returning to most segments of the regional housing market after the most challenging period in history. Home values have also leveled off and even risen in some communities. Hopefully, this new optimism will continue,” said Dan Dressman, Executive Director.
The HBA of Greater Cincinnati is one of the largest local chapters of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in Ohio. Visit www.cincybuilders.com for more details. NPG Dataquest is the official source of permit statistical data utilized by the HBA of Greater Cincinnati.
