Groundbreaking at Northwind Today

Posted By on October 27, 2009

Today we celebrated the groundbreaking of the new model home, The Salvadore, at Northwind in Northside.  I would be remiss if I didn’t mention there are 7 pre-sold homes at Northwind (out of only 25 available).

Potterhill Homes was joined today by representatives from the City of Cincinnati including Mayor Mark Mallory, City Manager Milton Dahoney, Council Members Roxanne Qualls & Cecil Thomas, and numerous members of the City’s Department of Community Development.  Several existing Northsiders joined the celebration including Tim Jeckering from the Northside Community Council & Stefanie Sunderland from the Northside Community Urban Redevelopment Corp. We were also glad that a few of our soon-to-be Potterhill homeowners at Northwind were able to join us.  I’d like to offer a special thanks to Sue Wilke and Sandi Kelley, who were kind enough to speak on behalf of all of the new home buyers at Northwind. Sue gave an especially moving speech that made me proud to be part of this development. They are moving back to the city for their retirement home, and she eloquently testified to the importance of energy efficiency and the tax abatement available on new home construction in the City of Cincinnati.

In the coming weeks & months, I will track the progress of the model home at Northwind, so stop back frequently for updates!

I’m still waiting to receive photos of the groundbreaking from several people, but when I do get them I will post them.

Until next time, please contact your Senators today to ask them to extend the first time homebuyer tax credit under the bill on the floor this week: H.R. 3548, the Unemployment Compensation Extension Act of 2009.  I truly believe the extension is desperately needed to ensure our Nations’ road to economic recovery.

UPDATE: WCPO attended the groundbreaking and reported on it during the 5:30pm broadcast. You can read the transcript and watch the video on WCPO’s site, here.
