Net-Zero Energy Homes are Here!

Posted By on June 29, 2010

Net-Zero Energy homes are the ultimate in green & energy efficient building.  There are several different definitions of the commonly used term, “Net-Zero Energy.”  One of the definitions is a “Net-Zero Cost” – which is exactly what we at Potterhill Homes have built in our Northside R & D community, Northwind.  In a home that is “Net-Zero Cost”, the actual cost of purchasing energy is offset by the income generated from selling Solar Renewable Energy Credits back to the power company. At the end of the year, the homeowner will pay very little or no money toward energy bills.

INTRODUCING OUR SOLARIS COLLECTION

Our first Solaris Collection Home, the Salvadore

We have been hard at work for 4 years to build a home that is Net-Zero Cost.

We proudly present our first ever Solaris Collection home in Northwind. The Solaris Collection gets you to Net-Zero Cost housing, with a purchase price starting under $200,000.

The Solaris Collection by Potterhill Homes offers an affordable solution to making geothermal heating & cooling AND solar panels standard features.  Net-Zero Cost has never been so affordable.

GEOTHERMAL HEATING & COOLING

Standard with our Solaris Collection of homes, this system is eligible for a 30% Federal Tax Credit which equates to approximately $8,000 in your pocket.  Plus, it helps drastically reduce utility bills.

SOLAR PANELS

A 3 KW solar panel system is standard on every Solaris Collection home. This system is eligible for a 30% Federal Tax Credit (approximately $7,500) and Grant Money available in various states including Ohio.  Additionally, the utility company will pay the homeowner for the Solar Renewable Energy Credits generated by the system. The income generated from selling these Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SREC’s) will be about equal to the home’s utility bills, getting the home to a Net-Zero Cost.

ELEGANCE AND EFFICIENCY FROM THE $140,000’S

A home has to be practical and beautiful too.  Potterhill homes feature striking designs, elegant details, and practiacal functionality.  And it’s all yours for a fraction of the price you might expect.  Great homes. Great neighborhood. Great prices.  That’s Potterhill.

Even if the Solaris Collection isn’t for you, our standard energy efficiency package is better than all the rest and starts in the $140,000’s.

Come visit our Solaris Collection R & D facility in Northwind or any one of our 19 communities.  You’ll see first-hand what green can really mean for you.

Carolyn Rolfes is the President of Potterhill Homes. And she's also a Rolfes - as in daughter of Dan Rolfes, the infamous Red Tag Man of Holiday Homes. So what does that say about Carolyn and who she is? Plenty. When you grow up the daughter of man who does commercials in his red underwear, you have no choice but to have a great sense of humor and humility from a very young age. Carolyn and Dan founded Potterhill Homes in 2001 and she has grown it to be one of the most successful home builders in Cincinnati. Home building is in her blood and she has a keen awareness of what consumers look for in a new home and how to deliver value at all levels. And while we don't make Carolyn dress up in green underwear for our commercials, we bet she would if we asked!
