Supporting Children’s Programming on Cincinnati Public Radio - $25,000
Cincinnati Public Radio is committed to outreach programs for children and young adults. With support from the Dater Foundation,Julie Coppens was added to the staff as Educational Outreach Coordinator to champion WGUC’s Classics for Kids® and WVXU’s Democracy & Me programs.
WGUC’s Classics for Kids® introduces elementary school-aged children to classical music in a fun and entertaining way through a radio program, podcasts, and a wide variety of multi-media activities online. Classics for Kids® became even more important in 2020 as evidenced by a record 21,575,826 pageviews (vs. 5,768,292 during the same period in the previous year!)
WVXU’s Democracy & Me (www.democracyandme.org) is an outreach program that reinforces the importance of citizenship and journalism in our democracy. The goal is to empower students, support teachers, and help build citizens.
