Special Covid-19 Relief Grant
This grant is one of more than 20 grants that the Dater Foundation made in 2019-20 to previous grant recipient organizations working on the frontlines to provide life saving and life sustaining services to persons most deeply affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Horizon Community Funds of Northern Kentucky is Northern Kentucky’s own community foundation, a public charity focused on serving the needs of Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties and was founded in 2017. Our mission is to unite resources to raise the quality of life for all members of the Northern Kentucky community. We aim to increase the charitable resource base to support the emerging needs of our three-county footprint, working collaboratively with Northern Kentucky donors, business, nonprofit organizations, and community leaders to effective address the changing landscape.
In 2020, Horizon Community Funds launched the Horizon NKY Coronavirus Relief Fund, which continues to provide support to those Northern Kentucky families and individuals most disproportionally impacted by the pandemic. To date, we have raised over $2.1 million, of which nearly half has been deployed. Our Relief Fund Task Force and Advisory Committee has maintained a careful eye on the emerging needs related to the pandemic, and we wish to maximize federal and governmental dollars first while allowing philanthropic dollars to fill gaps. Thanks to our generous donors, including the Charles H. Dater Foundation, we have been able to support over 85,000 individuals by providing assistance for food, shelter, childcare, healthcare, transportation, and similar essential needs.
