Opera-Tunities 2018
Cincinnati Opera, the second-oldest opera company in North America, has produced education programs since 1970. During the 2017-18 school year, the company’s efforts consisted of: an abbreviated touring production of Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love specifically for schools; outings of the Opera Express; Build Your Own Opera classroom residencies, recurring and interactive activities guides by teaching artists; Spirituals in Motion; and the Community Open Dress Rehearsal, which featured the dress rehearsal Cincinnati Opera’s production of La Traviata. These programs engaged a total of 5,786 children, youth and teens during this period.
