Since 1993, Starfire has worked to create a more inclusive Cincinnati. Starfire is focused on decreasing the social isolation felt by people with disabilities by developing and expanding the meaningful relationships in their lives and communities. With the support of grant funding through the Dater Foundation in 2019, Starfire served 77 adults, and expanded to include 53 additional families with young children with developmental disabilities, serving 130 people in total. Our goal was to assist each person or family to increase their network by an average of 12 people. 100% of young children with developmental disabilities and their families, and 90% of adults with developmental disabilities, achieved this goal. Among adults with developmental disabilites, 113 socially valued roles were attained or maintained, including leading community projects (29 total), participating in volunteer positions (46 total), and obtaining and/or retaining jobs (38 total).
