Classics for Kids
90.9 WGUC is Cincinnati Public Radio’s classical public radio station. WGUC’s Classics for Kids is a radio broadcast heard on 90.9 each weekend, Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. and Sunday evenings at 6:00 p.m. The Classics for Kids podcast has been downloaded an average of 66,000 times per month, with an amazing 166,402 downloads in December 2018. Host Naomi Lewin introduces children to classical music in an entertaining way. Dr. Kay Edwards hosted a free teacher’s workshop at Miami University in April to provide hands-on experiences and lesson planning resources for integrating classical music into the classroom. In the final stages of development is a new interactive game about musical terms and lesson plans about Bach. A partnership with My Cincinnati brought Classics for Kids to children in Price Hill. During the school year,423,048 users visited the Classics web site and 699,420 sessions by students and teachers were logged.
