Arts Accessibility Subsidy

Arts Accessibility Subsidy is CAA’s response to the disparity of arts access continuously caused by trauma. Through re-introduced in-person SCHOOLTIME performances and classroom ARTISTS ON TOUR programming, CAA enhances human connection, social-emotional learning, and classroom education – thus, building resiliency for life’s challenges and community growth. The COVID-19 pandemic, systemic racism, generational poverty, and in-school arts education cuts are some of the issues our Education and Community Engagement (ECE) programs target. For CAA and school youth, human connection through the arts has shown both loss and gain within hybridized learning environments. This project ensures year-round access with transportation, tickets, and classroom arts infusion for teachers, students, and families. High-quality arts engagements present national and local artists, and are enhanced with continued learning resources beyond our programs.

Program Goals:

1. Ensure all requests for arts engagements gain access to the opportunities
2. Serve 30,000 youth and adults
3. Develop relationships with new schools
4. Safely re-integrate in-person engagements

Program Results:

1. All requests for subsidy support were met
2. Served 24,456 youth and adults through subsidy funding
3. 12 schools/organizations attended SchoolTime for the first time and 28 schools/organizations participated in Artists on Tour for the first time
4. All 2022-23 Youth and School programming was in-person at the Aronoff Center or in the community

The SchoolTime Ticket and Transportation Subsidy program for the 2022-23 season concluded in April of 2022 with a finale with Nate the Great co-presented by CAA and the Cincinnati Playhouse at the Park. CAA provided all schools to attend Dance Theatre of Harlem at no cost. This year’s SchoolTime series was our triumphant return to complete in-person programming, and the enthusiasm among teachers and students surpassed our highest expectations. In-person reach increased by 4,509 students and adults in 2022-23, a growth of 161% from 2021-22.

2022-23 was the first season of complete in-person Artists on Tour programming since the onset of the pandemic and saw a reach increase of 1,574, a growth of 12% from 2021-22. This year, CAA partnered with 28 school and youth organizations who experienced Artists on Tour for the first time. Teacher feedback was positive, with respondents commenting on the professionalism, preparedness, and programming delivered by our world-class teaching artists provided. CAA is proud to offer the highest quality traveling arts education engagements in the region, and we owe that distinction to our incredible artist roster.
