CincyDance!

CincyDance! is Cincinnati Ballet's flagship education program. Through in-school dance instruction for elementary school students, opportunities for out-of-school learning, and all-inclusive scholarships to our Academy, students learn how to present themselves with confidence in and outside of the dance studio and learn skills that translate to artistic and academic achievement as well as better life outcomes.

Program Goals:

The goals and evaluation measures identified in our FY23 proposal to the Dater Foundation for CincyDance! are as follows:

- Number of students and schools involved.
- Gains in 21st-Century learning skills (such as creative problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaborative learning).
- Student gains in self-esteem, confidence, work ethic.
- Number of students admitted to CincyDance! Foundations
- Number of students offered lifetime scholarships to the Otto M. Budig Academy
- Student, teacher, and parent satisfaction levels with the program.

Program Results:

*We served 1,233 students in FY23
*We completed 288 school residencies with 21 partner schools
*69% of students served were low-income
*76% of CincyDance! Students identified as people of color
*39 students were admitted to CincyDance! Foundations (formerly called Ballet Foundations) classes and 37 of them graduated
*6 new students received lifetime scholarships to the Otto M. Budig Academy last year and we supported a total of 29 students (including new students) with these scholarships this season.

CincyDance! continues to be one of the most successful and beloved programs that we operate. It is a true staple within the community. As a testament to its success, we are proud to report that:

*The program grew its total participants by 6.20% in FY23 over FY22.
*The program increased its number of school residencies completed by 9.1% over FY22 and the number of partner schools served was increased 50% over the number served in FY22.
*The number of low-income students served through CincyDance! increased 7.81% over FY22.
*The number of BIPOC students served through CincyDance! increased 7.81% over FY22.
*The number of students admitted to CincyDance! Foundations increased 5.41% over FY22.
*The number of total scholarship students served increased 16% over FY22.
*All 6 of the FY22 scholarship recipients and all 6 of the FY21 recipients returned to the Otto M. Budig Academy for dance training in FY23, giving the program a 100% retention rate this FY.

Perhaps most telling is the incredible success of our First Steps Residency program. Last year was the pilot year for the Pre-K component of the program (First Steps Residencies). We are now on track to finish the current year (the program’s second) with a 300% increase in participants.
