Cincinnati Youth Collaborative Mentoring Program

The CYC Mentoring Program provides in-school and out-of-school mentoring supports that address disparities in educational and career attainment for students of color who are of low socioeconomic status while also increasing social-emotional learning capacities for these students.  Students ages eight to twenty-one are paired with caring adults who encourage regular school attendance, improve students’ self-esteem, and ultimately help these young people obtain gainful employment after graduation.  This program encompasses each stage of the student’s academic career:  Grades 2-6 focus on school performance and social-emotional learning, including self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, goal-directed behavior, personal responsibility, decision-making, and opportunistic thinking.  Grades 7-12 center on developing pathways for life after high school.  Post-secondary students prioritize persistence and college retention.

CYC aims to serve 2,000 students through the Mentoring Program by the end of the 2023-2024 school year, doubling the number of students served the previous year..
