Graduate Education Program
Since 2010, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Cincinnati’s (BGCGC) Graduate Education Program has prepared children from families facing the social, financial, and educational disparities that are byproducts of systemic oppression by equipping them for success in 21st century classrooms and careers. Graduate provides youth ages 5-18 in Greater Cincinnati’s most underserved neighborhoods with the literacy skills, social and emotional support, and life skills they need to thrive through:1. Homework help and tutoring;2. High-yield learning activities including leisure reading, cultural arts, educational games that ensure consistent academic progress;3. K-3rd Grade Reading Initiative: Supports developing the five essential components of literacy as defined by the National Reading Panel;4. Diplomas to Degrees (d2D): A nationally developed curriculum from Boys & Girls Clubs of America that provides tools and resources for teens to prepare for college and career success; and5. Social-emotional supports for students, families, and staff.
Program Goals:
In 2023, BGCGC continued its Graduate Education Program to provide educational enrichment and social-emotional support, thereby nurturing the success of youth inside and outside of the classroom. To accomplish this goal, BGCGC offers Graduate to Greater Cincinnati youth at all seven of our Club sites at no cost. Program activities include tutoring, mentorship, literacy and math support, and computer-based instruction.
