Schooled on Freedom
Schooled on Freedom provides free admission to the Freedom Center for 4th-12th grade students at qualifying Title I schools. The program offers experiential learning tours of the museum combined with a grade-specific curriculum aligned with state and national education standards, making history accessible to all students regardless of socioeconomic status.
Program Goals:
Short-term goals are specific to the upcoming 2023-24 school year and include the following:
- Reach 4,411 students and educators through SOF (for every student group of 10 there is typically 1 chaperone)
- Support the transportation reimbursement for 3,125 of those guests (assuming some schools will decline based on experience with the program). In the 2022 – 2023 school year, the rate of field trip cancellations due to transportation woes has seen a marked increase. In order to help schools surmount those hurdles, going forward, the Freedom Center will assume roughly 25% of program funds be made available for transportation.
- Secure 85% of evaluation reports from educators and students to implement continuous improvement and refinement for SOF
- Students master the content presented based on their specific grade/learning tour
The Freedom Center continues to implement this program during the academic year and utilizes learnings to refine over the summer and be ready for the following fall. The long-term goals included are specific to the 2024-25 school year and include the following:
- Reach 5,956 students and educators
- Form strategic, long-term partnerships with 1-2 school districts in Greater Cincinnati
- Expand reach to 10 new schools in the tristate region through referrals, marketing, and building new partnerships
- Students master the content presented based on their specific grade/learning tour
