Beds for Kids

We are incredibly grateful and privileged to continue partnering with the Charles H. Dater Foundation for our Beds for Kids program. Your trust in our mission and community efforts inspires our team as we do our best to serve the children and families in our region. Reflecting on 2023, we helped 2,786 children across 1,206 households with children. Astonishingly, 72% of these homes had a single adult female as the head of household! Overall, 91% of the clients we served in 2023 lived below the federal poverty level. From January to December 2023, 2,600 beds were delivered. Of those, 553 were new (purchased with grant funding for bed sets).

As we embark on 2024’s journey, the Dater Foundation funding has been crucial to ensuring we have a strong start with the Beds for Kids program. As needed, our staff continues to purchase pieces to “fill the gap” for beds donated by community members. For example, a mattress is incomplete without a box spring or bed frame. That’s where your grant funding is essential! The flexibility to fulfill the need for a complete bed set makes helping many children get off the floor into a bed a viable model. We look forward to reporting on the final progress of this donation later in 2024, as well as reapplying in February 2024 to continue our partnership, benefitting children in need. Because of you, more young minds will rest well in a bed - not on the floor. Proper rest means better attitudes, refreshed spirits, and more success in school and life.
