The Lincoln Grant Scholar House (LGSH) program helps single parents enrolled in secondary education work toward creating a sustainable plan for self- reliance. The Dater Foundation grant funds are used, in conjunction with other funding from Foundations, to cover LGSH program staffing and workshop expenses. During the first 6 months of the grant period, LGSH staff met with and supported 128 program participants through workshops and academic and family support meetings averaging 73 hours per month. The workshops were delivered by partner organizations and covered topics like financial empowerment, domestic violence awareness, mental health counseling, and career development. The family support meetings are conducted by the staff at LGSH. LGSH currently supports 43 families that include 85 dependent children averaging 5.4 years of age.
